Trash in the Park

While pulling up to the garage the white paper drifting across the park caught my attention.  Just 30 feet from all of those empty fast food containers sat my dumpster with the lid fully open, inviting any trash that might want to join in.

First I thought, that isn't my problem and how dare someone just throw their trash around, leaving it for others to clean up.  Then came the anger.  Charging to the edge of the park nearest the offending trash, a neighbor came to the end of his driveway at the alley.

"Can you believe how people just throw their trash here where our children play!" I yelled.

He just smiled and nodded.  I'm pretty sure he was trying to gauge my level of stability at that moment.

"I wonder if they live like this at home!!"  I continued to rant.

"No, probably not", he drawled in a country accent, "Their houses are probably real clean, they left their trash in the park."

Now I was laughing....

"I'm sorry you had to see my little moment".  I apologized

His reply?  "Sorry if I interrupted you".  then grinned a hillbilly kind of gotcha grin.

I'm still giggling and yes the offending trash is tucked safely away in the trash bin.  Probably a very good thing I did not witness who did this.  Thankfully, I have neighbors that keep an eye out though so even in my crazy moments...... I gots back up if needed.  LOL

Walking to the back door it hit me...... how so much of my life has been cleaning up other peoples emotional trash just thrown onto my tender psyche.   OK now I'm REALLY MAD.  Probably a very good thing that those who did it are out of sight today.

From now on, when others either intentionally or (more often than not) unintentionally trash up my beautiful day... I'll just point them to the nearest trash bin and tell them that I don't want their garbage.

And yes this is how my mind works.... between the cracks.
